Mother’s Day is a time to honour the strength, love, and aroha that our māmā, wāhine, and maternal figures bring into our lives. At Mātātuhi Designs, this kaupapa holds a special place in our hearts.
Last year marked our very first Mother’s Day release; a collection of custom Māmā hoodies and sweatshirts created to uplift and celebrate the incredible women who raise, guide, and support us. It was new territory for us, but the response was overwhelming.
This year? We feel like we’ve hit our stride.
A Personal Touch for Our Māmā
Our 2024 Māmā collection has grown into something really special. Each hoodie and sweatshirt is made with aroha, care, and detail featuring children’s names pressed onto the sleeves, a subtle but meaningful design element that makes each piece deeply personal.
It’s more than just a garment; it’s a taonga, a wearable reminder of the tamariki who call her “Mum”, “Māmā”, “Nan” or “Aunty”.
We’ve loved seeing the names roll in, each one telling its own story of whakapapa and connection. Watching these pieces come together, knowing they’ll be gifted with love on such an important day, fills us with pride.
Refining Our Process
Like any small business, our first year doing a custom drop for Mother’s Day was a bit of a learning curve. We were navigating new systems, pressing each item by hand, and hoping every parcel would arrive on time.
This year, though, it’s different. We’ve taken those learnings and created a well-oiled machine from how we receive custom orders to how we prep, press, and pack them.
We’ve streamlined our process so we can focus on what really matters: delivering something heartfelt and meaningful to every māmā.
